Rebecca Alleway Set Decorator

I completed my BA honours degree in Theatre Design at Wimbledon School of Art and then went onto to do The Motley Post Graduate course in Theatre Design.

After completing my studies, I spent two years designing sets and costumes in the theatre before I moved into music videos and television commercials. I was an assistant and then an Art Director for a number of years before I was given my first Set Decorating job, which I have been doing for over twenty five years.

In 2009 I was nominated for an Academy Award for my Set Decoration on the film The Duchess. Cloud Atlas won several awards and a nomination from the Art Directors Guild in 2013. More recently, Murder on the Orient Express was nominated for an Art Directors Guild Award and won Best Production Design and Set Decoration at the BFDG awards.

Working as a Set Decorator has led me to work in many countries around the world including Russia, Holland, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Belgium, Germany, Malta, Morocco, Africa and the States.

I have had the good fortune to work with hugely talented Production Designers and Directors, including Kenneth Branagh, Lasse Hallstom, Kevin Macdonald and Tom Tykwer in collaboration with Andy and Lana Wachowski (the Directors of The Matrix) on an adaption of David Mitchell’s book Cloud Atlas.
