Rebecca Alleway Set Decorator

I completed my BA honours degree in Theatre Design at Wimbledon School of Art and then went onto to do The Motley Post Graduate course in Theatre Design.

After completing my studies, I spent two years designing sets and costumes in the theatre before I moved into music videos and television commercials. I was an assistant and then an Art Director for a number of years before I was given my first Set Decorating job, which I have been doing for over twenty years.

In 2009 I was nominated for an Oscar for my Set Decoration on the film The Duchess. In 2012, I won the WAFCA award for my work as part of the design team for the film Cloud Atlas. We were also nominated for the Art Directors Guild and the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. Cloud Atlas also won Best Production Design at the German Film Awards in Berlin in 2013.

Working as a Set Decorator has led me to work in many countries around the world including Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Belgium, Germany, Morocco, South Africa and the States.

I have had the good fortune to work with hugely talented Production Designers and Directors, including Kenneth Branagh, Lasse Hallstom, Kevin Macdonald and Tom Tykwer in collaboration with Andy and Lana Wachowski (the Directors of The Matrix) on an adaption of David Mitchell’s book Cloud Atlas.
